New student here at Hondros

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

First off, since this is my first post, I would like to say hello to everyone here! :w00t:

I have been trolling this site and forum for several months ever since I decided to make the switch to nursing school. I was at the University of Cincinnati for 3 years (2 years in business and 1 year in IT) before I decided to look into their nursing school. But their waiting list was over a year long. So after looking on here I saw the list of schools with no waiting list and saw Hondros on in. I just started my classes on Monday (Jan 7th) so I've only been in it for about a week now. But so far it seems good, the only thing I can compare it to is business and IT classes at UC. But if anyone has any questions about Hondros I would be more than happy to answer them for you. Also just FYI I'm taking my classes at the West Chester and Mason locations.

Hi All,

Does the HESI test in Hondros include Physics ? Is it a really hard test ? Is it a timed test ? your help is appriciated

Thanks

OH Girl

Hey all I am seriously thinking about attending HONDROS college. I am 34 and am just now trying to start a career. Is there anyone that is older than me that have considered going to nursing school.

I would also like to know if there are any study groups in thearea of West Chester

thanks

I graduated recently from hondros and the ages of student range from 20's to 50's generally. Honestly very few students were fresh out of high school, alot of people who had been in careers for x amount of years and then decided to go for nursing. You should find some students in your class to make a study group with. best thing you could do for your grades! I had a solid study group (of people who were serious about learning) and we stuck it through until the end. We would split up study guides, have study groups before tests and tell each other tips of how to remember things. Find people in your class that are also serious about schooling and attach yourself to them! Half of my class didn't make it because they didn't have good study techniques and didn't put the time and effort into the school. Good luck and I wish you a happy career in nursing!:D

does anybody remember what the passing score is on the entrace hesi test and what parts you have to take

I don't remember the score off hand but its like basic stuff. I remember there being some terminology some math, reading. I passed everything even math which is amazing since I've always struggled in that subject. There were examples that were like; which sentence properly uses the word intravenous to its meaning? But this is for the LPN part. I have never taken the RN hesi entrance exam.

can anybody give a rough idea of the per hour tuition costs per credit hour? just doing some comparisons.

nevermind, just found it. thanks! btw, if anybody else is curious:

per credit hour

degree course tuition for 2008 is $185 per credit hour. this does not include the cost of textbooks. view degree textbooks.

full program

maximum tuition to complete a full associate's degree at 2008 pricing is $16,650 . students who apply credits from previous coursework, either hondros college real estate sales pre-licensing courses or credits from a previously attended college or university, will find their actual tuition costs to complete the degree are significantly less.

i'm basically deciding between Columbus State and Hondros. How much of Hondros' program is available either online or partial online?

Columbus State is significantly less expensive, but Hondros gets you a degree much quicker.

I am going to start this program in January and I am very excited!! My only concern is that it is not NLNAC accredited. I was told that they have articulation agreements with some BSN programs. Does anyone know anything about this?

I want to go for my rn but I can't find a flexible job. for those of you who are lpns going for your rn where do you work at while you go to school? is it possible? I need to keep a decent amount of hours but I can't find a job that will allow me to switch my schedule as needed.

Im in the exact same boat. I work 12's and looove my job, but I dont think they are gonna flex at all. You'll probably have to go PRN at a few different places.

I have enrolled in Hondros for January also and received a pre-conditional acceptance letter. I still had some things that needed to be turned in which I have since completed but I still haven't received a full acceptance letter. I had the same concern as you and the colleges that were mentioned are "University of Phoenix" and Chamberlain College of Columbus". There was another one but I can't read my own writing.

Congrats!!! :yeah: I still haven't received my full acceptance letter yet either. I do have everything turned in and am just waiting. I did call Chamberlain to confirm the agreement ,but can't get anyone to call me back. O well, I guess the worst thing that could happen would be to take some classes over. I think some schools will even let you test out of the class if your credits won't transfer. I should probably just concentrate on getting through this program first. I have a feeling it is going to be hard enough!!! Are you going for your lpn or rn?
