hi everyone! :))
i am glad that this month has been great for me!
i took my NCLEX and passed it. i am currently licensed in CA, tho i am living here in Houston. and i am on the process of endorsing for my TX RN license. application sent, fingerptinting done. just waiting for my Temporary license (i am not sure when I will have it). and about to take the NSG jurisprudence exam..
if waiting for my NCLEX results was killing me.. waiting for my TX license and NOT having a job almost does!
pardon my exaggeration, but, the truth i am a foreign graduate from the Philippines. graduated last year (2009), and passed NCLEX for the 2nd time (just this month).
i feel really useless now. i have been dependent on my mom almost all my life and i just really want to help out. My boyfriend has been helpful eversince, he pays all the time for us wherever we go. Just bcoz i have no job!
believe me guys, i have been trying to land a job in anywhere for the past year. unit clerk, pt care assist, retail. but no jobs for me. AND NEWS and SURVEYS says HOUSTON has alot of jobs. well it does, but experience needed always blows me off. "but how am i gonna have experience if someone will not hire me right?"
everyone: "is it gonna be ok for me to start applying now for RN jobs? with CA RN license, and waiting for my TX temporary and permanent license?" like,, just send out applications.. and if someone actually calls me for interview.. i can tell them yes, i'm an RN. and just pass my TX license when i actually have it???
.............OR............ should i just apply for ANY retail/clerk jobs again while waiting??? and just quit whenever a hospital/facility hires me??? i'm not even sure if that's legal or someone would hire me knowing that il just quit.
looking at the job market right now, i am HOPEFUL but discouraged that i will be able to land any RN jobs, this month, next month and. next next month. so i thought of applying early.. or working another non nursing job..
and please.. any suggestions on what will help for me to be hired as an RN without experience, foreign graduate???
thanks everyone!! sorry for the long post..

You are not going to receive a hard copy of your temporary license. Texas stopped issuing paper temporary licenses in September 2008. Go to the Texas Board of Nursing website and verify that you have a temporary license number posted. If so, you can start working.
thanks The Commuter!
i wouldn't have known about it..
i actually found it online already..
about the NSG jurisprudence exam, since i got my temp. license number now..
can i just take it anytime? or do i have to wait '10 days after getting the temp license'???
thanks!
You can go ahead and take the jurisprudence exam now that you have a temporary license number.
