New Rn student taking CNA test

Published

HI,

I just completed my 1st semester of Associate RN program at PHSC. I am ready to take the CNA test so I can work in a hospital while in school. I am a little worried about the skills test, not worried about the written test.

Does anyone have experience with this test? I plan on taking at A-1 Health care in New Port Richey. Has anyone done their test their?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

In Florida, you need to go to the Board of Nursing website - get the Skills Checklist for the CNA skills portion of the exam. Study this to the letter - this is exactly how they will test you. Then - practice, practice, practice. If you have access to a Sim lab where you can get real experience, that would be excellent. If not, buy a little doll and practice some of the skills with that if you can. Once you review the checklist you will see what is necessary. Also, there is 4YourCNA on youtube - which are videos of the skills made for people that are trying to test in Florida. I am not in Port Richey so I am not completely sure how your test would differ any from the rest of the state. Good luck!

I went through PHSC for my CNA and also did my exam at A1A. I only missed one question on the written but I failed on the skills portion the first time :( The lady I had the first time was TOUGH. No smiling, no hello or anything. Just business. The next lady I had when I retook my skills portion was much more at ease.

Btw, congrats on making RN program. I just got my acceptance letter for LPN.
