Hello All!
I recently sat for my NCLEX-RN exam and Passed with 75 questions. A few days later, I received my license, however, I was under the impression that new licenses are valid for 2 year period. Mine appears to be valid for maybe 15-16months. I am expecting a second package in the weeks to come and hopefully there would be an explanation. In the meantime, if anyone who is licensed in California could please clue me on how they calculate valid dates I would be grateful!
btw: This website is such a valuable asset to all nurses. I would have been in great agony had it not been for all the reassuring posts- Thank you!

I believe the way they say it is that the first one is good for one year and then expires on the last day of the month after the one your birthday is in. Let me see if I can find the link:
Renewal Cycle
Your first California RN license is issued for two birthdays - not two years - and it will expire the last day of the month following your birth date. From that date on, it will expire every two years, if renewed timely. Once a California license number is issued, it will always remain the same number whether active, inactive or delinquent. If the license lapses and is later renewed, the same license number and renewal cycle will apply.

Thanks 0402! very nice :-)
No worries- I had the same question when I saw my expiration date, too. =)
