New - please explain terms

Here's a good website with some of the most basic abbreviations:

Sometimes they're just made up. Had an MD order "S&D" in his post-op orders once. Had to call him up to find out what on earth that was supposed to mean. Answer: "Sit and Dangle." Swell.

That was one of my favorite non-sense MD orders. Right up there with "Give him something for his bowels."
