New PCT in Chicago Looking for Hospital/Clinic Position

Published

hello everyone!

i live in the chicago area and have just re-certified as a cna and completed pct training last year (i know, kinda backwards ). i just started a cna position in an assisted-living facility after 5 years of unemployment and just completed pre-nursing prereqs; unfortunately, assisted-living is not my cup of tea :o. i think i need something more fast-paced and to gain more hands-on experience.

i would like to work as a patient care technician in a hospital or clinical setting. could someone please inform me of which hospitals or clinics hire pcts, and if possible, their starting pay rate? also, could an experienced pct from a chicago or surrounding city/suburb hospital give me pointers of what "extra" procedures i should be aware of / know of when i begin a pct position? and what procedures in your department do you find yourself doing most? i would also like to know, what do you find "easy" and difficult about your position as a pct?

i never worked in a hospital or clinic, but i would sure like to start. thank you much! :nurse:
