New  PA BON Regulation effective September 18, 2025:

Regulation #16A-5146: Opioid Prescription and Education and Organ Donation Education

Must obtain within 5 years of initial license or license renewal.

Finally, this rulemaking updates existing continuing education regulations for registered nurses (RNs), RN Volunteer Licensees (RN Volunteer), CRNPs and clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) to add organ and tissue donation and recovery process (collectively, "organ donation”) education consistent with the amendment in 20 Pa. C.S. § 8628 (Act 90 of 2018) (P.L. 594, No. 90). The amendment requires completion of at least 2 hours of Board-approved continuing education in organ donation one time within 5 years of initial licensure or within 5 years of licensure renewal, whichever occurs first.
The amendments do not include licensed practical nurses in the educational requirements.
