New OR nurse

Published

I am a new grad and just accepted a position in the OR. My question is...what do I wear to work? I know that I will change into clean scrubs at work and they will be laundered there. Would it be weird to wear my own scrubs into work as well? I have a small baby and am not looking forward to having to think about what clothes I'm putting on at 5:00am. If Wearing scrubs wouldn't be weird, should I wear The traditional RN Navy blue or surgery jade?

Also, what do you wear under your scrubs at work?

Thanks guys!

Under my scrubs? Bra and underwear. Long sleeves are a no-no due to infection risk, plus I actually get hot during some parts of surgery. My facility provides warm up jackets.

Into work? Jeans, t-shirt, sneakers. Some people do wear scrubs into work and change once they get there. Really, unless the facility decides to be heavy handed with dress code, you should be able to wear whatever. I work with some who come in wearing workout gear because they go to the facility gym after their shift.
