Hi All
I'm a pre nursing student, I have a light course load this year, only 2 classes, so, I applied for a f/t maternity unit secretary position.
I got the job and start next week.......... yeah!!!!
I'm excited and nervous. I'm married w/ 3 children in grade school, my hours are 7-3 so that works with the family. My husband also works at home.
I want to do a realllllly great job but, have never work in a hospital before.
Any Advice on how to be a great unit secretary?
and what not to do? I start next week!
Thanks for the replies! :)

Never assume anything. If you are unsure ask questions. If there is a charge nurse develop a good relationship with her.
Good Luck!

Look, learn and ask questions..With humor, when you get into the routine, be funny and take charge...YOU people can and do run many units....Couldn't do it without you on the day shift...REALLY miss having you on the night shifts! Good luck!
