New Nursing student here

Hi everyone!

I am so excited that I have finally been accepted into nursing school. I have been working towards this goal for so long. I don't start until January so I have some time to try to figure things out, but I am so scared that I am not going to be able to handle everything on my plate.

I know school is going to be extremely demanding which has me nervous. I am also going to have to continue to work and I have 3 kids that need to be taken care of as well. I know things have a way of working out. I am dedicated to making sure that I am able to do it all but I know it is not going to be easy.

Anyone other students in a similar situation? Any suggestions for making life a bit easier when I do start nursing school?

i can't say i relate with the kid part, but i will also continue to hold my job during school (which starts for me in 1 month). i do have 2 older parents, one of which has a chronic illness that needs lots of attention, so i can relate on the level that your time will be constantly occupied.

it's all just taking it in stride. like a woman at my orientation said- when you need help, ask for it. get used to asking for help from those around you for the next few years and don't feel bad about it!! sometimes you will need time for you- take it!

Hi well I have 3kids 11 8 and 6 so I needed to make sure I had back up childcare in case anything fell through because I can not leave class or clinicals. Also I made sure to schedule study time regularly so that I could plan appropriately. I would also make sure to get the kids things ready for school the day before because mornings were so rushed dropping them off then going to class on clinical days I had someone take them to school for me. Don't worry you will make it work the time you take away from the kids now is for a positive outcome you can do it your kids will be so proud I know mine are. Oh I'm in 2nd semester by the way good luck and just breath
