New nurse from Ohio trying to relocate to Southern California

Published

Hi,

I will be graduating from an ADN program in the Fall of 2017 and have taken all of my prerequisites for my BSN already. I currently work and a PCT in an area hospital but I want to move to San Diego or LA. Is there any opportunities for a new grad from Ohio?

We had a lot of our new girls get a year under their belt then travel.

Southern California is a tough market for new grads ...more so without a BSN. I moved here with an ADN only after gaining a few years of experience. I also noticed that as a new graduate in my home state, I worked with a lot of new graduates from California who had moved because they couldn't find work in California.

While I haven't had difficulty finding work after gaining some experience, my options are more limited than they would be in my home state. If you have a very specific, highly-sought after specialty in mind, you will have a problem without a BSN.
