New nurse moving to Thailand

Published

I have a BSN and (very) recently passed NCLEX. I will be moving to Chiang Mai, Thailand in less than a month. I'm teaching english for sure so I already have a 1 year work visa, but now that I have my RN, I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of positions are available. I don't have any experience to speak of, and I don't know the language (yet!). I guess I'm just wondering if my license will work in Thailand, and if so, what is nursing like in Thailand? Any thoughts, insight or suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Yokara (and others),

I have a potential opportunity to be in a similar situation to yourself - I am a recent grad, brand new RN, in Thailand. I have no experience as a paid nurse, curious in the last 2 years what progress you made towards nursing. I would be in Bangkok, so this "might" make my plight a bit easier than you, but curious if you or anyone else has any helpful advice.

I would be moving with my wife being posted to Bangkok, due to here role, acquiring a work visa would not be a challenge.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated!

Hello! I am graduating in May and I am hoping to move to Thialand or some where similar to work as a teacher for a year. I noticed this post was from a few years back and I was curious about your experience, what company you used or what school you taught at while you were there and how it all ended up working out for you? I am really interested in international education and nursing and would love to hear your story!

Hello everybody!

i m an italian nurse and i would like to moving to Thailand..do you have suggest for me?

Hello,

I am a student nurse and will be graduating with my ADN next week. I just came across this thread i find it very interesting. As far as I know, to work as a nurse in Thailand, you probably need to be registered in the Thai board of nursing. There are a lot of nurse from Philippines working in Bangkok though. So i think it is doable. My suggestion is trying to look for school nurse job in the international schools or a medical coordinator position in medical assistance company like Euro-center, ISOS, BUPA. Their customers are mainly expats so they need nurses who can speak English. As for the hospitals that might except international nurses, I would say, try Samitiveth, BNH, Bangkok hospital. Good luck!
