Hello everyone!! I am excited and nervous at the sametime. I dont really kno how the hours for PRN work...so if anybody can give me any insight it will be appreciated!! All I kno is its by your availability!! How does ur employer determine your hours?? Thanks a lot!!

Congrats on passing the NCLEX, and on finding a job! :)

I work per diem at a hospital. The way my scheduling works is this: The schedules are done for 4 weeks at a time. When the new schedule comes out, I pencil in the days/shifts I am willing to do. At my facility, those are the days/shifts I am put on for. If for some reason they don't need me for a particular day/shift, they will call and cancel me no later than 2 hours before I am to come in. This has not happened to me yet, the hospital always seems to need more help instead!

Also, I was told at my facility that if you find yourself wanting to come in for extra shifts, you just put in a call to staffing, and let them know you'd like to work. Most of the time, they'll tell you to come on in!

Best wishes!
