New NP needing guidance

Published

I recently graduated from NP school and have taken my certification and passed (thankfully). Currently I am in limbo - I have sent my official transcripts to AANP in order for them to release my score (which may take some time) and give me a certification number. Once I receive this, I plan on then applying for my license (which is needed in Pennsylvania). I’m a little lost after this on what to do. Do I then apply for my NPI and DEA numbers as well as my collaborative agreement? I have a job already but credentialing isn’t necessarily guiding me with the processes but just asking for these things. Any guidance or suggestions on these processes and timing would be a huge help. Thanks!!

Apply for your NPI (very quick process) and then the DEA. I did not need a collaborator agreement in my state so not sure on that one but I sense it would be the last thing you get.

You should have someone HR (unlikely) but another NP in your group who can guide you in this process. Or if you didn’t go to some remote online campus you can ask your professors from your local institution who should be able to guide you as well.
