New neurology nurse Assessment questions/pearls for working in office setting

Hi Everyone!

I am an LPN, I graduated nursing school last June. I finally got a full-time nursing job over a year later...

Anyway..

I am working at a neurologist doctors office who specializes in epilepsy, seizures, etc. I was wondering if anyone could give me some information regarding these areas. Anything at all would be wonderful however, I am really looking for some assessment information. I will be going in with the patient before the doctor and I will need to get information. What should I ask? (One of the problems is that they fill out this sheet that already asks "review of systems" questions so anything I ask will seem redundant) But I would appreciate any information, "pearls of wisdom" you have to offer.

Thank you so much!

Ask about seizure frequency/types, meds, med side effects, questions they have for the MD, etc.

Hi Brittany!

I am a registerd nurse and I work on a Neuro floor. Although I am not a new RN it is my first time working on a Neuro floor. I actually got a lot of valuable information about the different types of neurological conditions and I als o learned how to accurately do a neurological assessment on a patient. I do not know what state you are in and what your scope of practice will allow you to do but here are the website that are really helpful.:) I hope they give you some insight.
