Welcome to all nurses.com :balloons: :balloons: !

Good luck what are you having a hard time with?

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

Although I am a female..............just wanted to welcome you aboard! :p

I study very hard.. And Im having a real hard time with the multiple choice questions. I do well in clinical. Ok in skills. But stinko in Lecture and Quiz related material. We took our first test last week. 50 people took the test and only 4 yes 4 people passed.

 IM NOT DUMB, I HATE FAILURE...

So I need to learn REAL quick how to get better at these multiple choice questions. I mean QUICK, next test is on Tuesday the what ever that is coming up.

So, please dont suggest I read NCLEX questions because that takes too long. This is the MEAT AND POTATO time. Know what I mean.

Man, did I get ugly there or what? Is this what Nursing school is going to do to me?

I, too, had trouble with the multiple choice questions. My problem was I read into the question, too much. Study your objectives handed out by the instructors. While taking your exams focus on the info in your head related to the objectives you studied. A good nursing program will take great effort in making the multiple choice exams a challenge in preparation of the NCLEX, which is all multiple choice.

Good luck & don't get PO'd at yourself. Save your energy for those *#@ multiple choice exams.

Specializes in Neonatal ICU (Cardiothoracic).

Hey, Relatively new grad here.....

Aaagh, the old mutliple choice test....heh heh heh....

No seriously, I sometimes had a hard time with them too. You study a ream of handouts and text for hours, only to agonize over 2 or 3 "almost correct" answers. My instructors gave us multiple right answer/fill in the blank questions to prepare us for the new style questions on the NCLEX. Grab a few friends, and cram right before the exam. scan your notes for main topics, diseases and stuff you remember the instructor elaborating or focusing on in class. Quiz each other, maybe asking the questions in a "multiple choice" style. Also on the test, when you can't decide between a few almost right answers, eliminate the wrong ones. If something is somewhat wrong, eliminate it. If it comes down to it, guess at your first choice. I was never one to sit there and agonize over a question. answer it with your first choice and move on. Just be sure you read the QUESTION thoroughly.

Hope this helps!.....[must sleep.....worked 12 hours last night......]
