I just started working at a LTC facility a couple weeks ago. It's 2nd shift, which is not my first choice of shifts but at the time I was applying for jobs no one was hiring 3rd shift. Well I was looking at job postings and came across a 3rd shift position in a mental health facility that pays 3$ more an hour than what I'm making now. I don't know what to do, would it be unprofessional of me to quit the LTC facility after being there such a short time if I could get this other job?? I really want to work 3rd and that extra money sure would help out!

Apply to the other place...if you get the job, put in your two weeks with the explanation that you found a job that's better fore you benefit/money wise. Never quit before you have something else lined up

I second the above, do whats best for you, but remain professional about the situation.

I would suggest that before you make any decisions about whether to stay or go, that you be very careful about finding out what the other job will be like. Three dollars more for third shift sounds like a fairly normal shift differential, so it's really not so much about being a facility that pays better than it is about a shift that is available. Just be careful when you interview to learn as much about the facility as you can. You don't want to end up jumping from the frying pan into the skillet and then not being able to jump back if you get burned.
thanks for the responses. i applied for the job yesterday!
