[NEW] Looking for Guidance

Nurses General Nursing

There seems to be a plethora of threads that I find the search feature inadequate, so forgive me for creating a this thread in advance.

Anyways, I'm a Junior at a university and I work as a CNA. For all my fellow CNAs you know the scope of our responsibilities are limited, so I'd like to take steps to become a RN or LPN. Reasons: More responsibility, better income, and jobs galore.

My question:Is it feasible to complete either program (RN or LPN) within two years, if not quicker? Are there any college students who are in school right now obtaining a major and simultaneously completing classes for a nursing degree at a community college? I've had the forethought to major in nursing, but time and money won't allow.

Can someone lend some words of advice or guidance.

Thanks

R.C.

short answer yes. Try your state's universities first. Many have a bridge program allowing you to get your BSN much faster (like 13-18 months) once you have graduated with another degree. I have a friend with a degree in marketing who got her RN that way.

My thought is to take do dual enrollment at my University and a community college and enroll in Anatomy and another required class.

Then this summer Anatomy II along with other required classes. Fall '10 enroll in nursing classes at the cc. I'm just not sure if its the most appropriate route.

you fail to mention what your other degree is in....

I'm not sure about taking classes at two different universities.

NS requires class time and clinical time....clinical times often are throughout the day during the week...may run into a problem with your other classes.
