New Hospital position

Published

I accepted a med/surg position at a local hospital. This week I started orientation, a met 3 other aides who also were hired for med/surg(2 on infection side/1 on surgical side where I am as well)

All of us were hired the same week in April. Myself and another aide have experienced but were only offered Part-time. When I interviewed I said I preferred full-time but she indicated only Part-time positions were available. ok.

So the other 2 aides in orientation the one has no experience being an aide, she thought she was getting a clinical secretary position. But turns out she got an aide position. She got her call the day after me and was offered Fulltime. The other aide has no experince as well but was offered full-time as well. she said they called her at the end of the same we all of us were called.

It seems to me as tho they gave full-time to the girls who they could start at a lower rate due to their experience. And the ones with experience paid a little bit more but only gave part-time positions.

This really ticks me off. Not only that but Im pretty sure during the interview I was quoted my rate would be 14.05. Today I inquired and it's 13.35????

argh!!!! this really irks me? Am I wrong to be kinda p'd off??

I don't know a jobs a job...

If they told me I was going to be making a specific amount and then I did not get it I would go talk to them ASAP. I would be kinda mad about that.

After you have worked there for a few months and have shown your worth ask about getting into full time and ask for a pay raise. The worst they can say is no.

That stinks.. Well the pay isnt bad..I know they told you something else though! I was offered a telelmetry/med surg position a week ago today. They told me $11.65hr...idk If they consider me experienced or inexperienced (no na experience but have medical degree). Im not sure about where you were hired, but they were only looking for someone with a h.s. diploma/ged....I wonder how many people like that they hire...? I would mention the pay...not sure what you should do about the full time thing though. Seems like now all these full time ads are up after I was hired part time!
