I became the Director of a new home health agency in October. I have never worked in home health before and am learning everything from the begining. I work for a corporation that has a long term care, rehabilitation facilty, assisted living and independant living facilty. They wanted to offer home health as another way of meeting the needs of people in the community. It has been a real challange and some days I am completely lost. I don't even know what I don't know. Anyway I am glad I found this website so I can ask questions.:w00t:

This might sound like consorting with the enemy, but you might consider talking to a counterpart at another agency and asking for some pointers. You might be able to develop a good relationship and be able to help each other out. You can offer to send business her way if your agency is unable to provide services and she might do the same. It sounds wacky, but many businesses cooperate in this manner and you might be able to find someone who is truly helpful. Not everyone is cutthroat out there.

Good luck to you. I am also new to home health care in an administrative position. I often wonder what ever possessed me to take on such a challenging job but I have to admit I love it most of the time. If there is anything I can help you with please contact me. There is a LOT of information on line. I think it's very important to have a reliable backup source for information because there is just so much too learn.
