New here! Have ?'s regarding LVN employment with Board restrictions

Published

I completed my nursing refresher course and I've recently started my job search to no avail. I'd like to know if my Board stips are what's holding me back from getting a job?

The only restriction is that an RN supervisor is to be available when I am at work and that they send in a quarterly report stating I am doing my job correctly. I've applied for just about every nursing home/LTAC and have yet to receive a callback. I;m starting to wonder if I'm not employable. :(

Please help!

Anyone??? If this is in the wrong forum, please move it to the appropriate section-thanks! :)

Any advice? Or do you know who/where to point me in the right direction to get some answers? Thanks :)

I don't know what your board stips are nor do I want to. It could be possible that they are a reason you're not getting called back.

However, also keep in mind that this is a horrible job market, and new grads with 4.0s, student organizations/certifications up the wazoo and who are doing everything perfectly in the job hunt are not getting call-backs either. Neither are experienced nurses having much luck. It's bad all around.

I would consider applying to as many places as you can, and network like crazy. Also, see if you can volunteer somewhere to add something to the resume. It may not necessarily involve doing nursing duties--especially with the stips--but it is an opportunity to network and let people get to know you and your character.

I hope things turn around for you.

Thank you for your input! Sorry I didn't post more info regarding the orders.

10yrs ago I was working with a delinquent license and I (very stupidly now that I know what I know!) surrendered my license in lieu of facing Board reprimand. Fast forward to 2011, I reapplied for relicensure and was reinstated w/stips-which were to complete a refresher course and take ethics/jurisprudence course. I did and am ready to rejoin the workforce.

As stated above, my only restrictions are that I cannot work in home health or hospice. It has to be a hospital or nursing home and I will need the RN supervisor on campus when I am working and they will need to send in a quarterly report to the BON. That's it.

So, that's why I am starting to wonder if I have the proverbial black cloud hanging over me and the restrictions are what's hindering my hiring. I have been completely honest about it on every application so I'm not trying to hide it whatsoever.

It's a mess that I created many years ago and wish now I had thought longer about the license surrender and what that would mean to me down the road-like now.

Thanks for listening and if there's any further advice-I'm all ears. :)
