Welcome to the wonderful and sometime scary world of OB. My advice to you is to read everything you can get your hands on. Finding a good mentor is crucial once you get through orientation. Never be afraid to ask questions. And never ever ASSUME anything. Stay out of the gossip ring and steer clear of those who are negative. There will be many times that you will go home doubting the decisions that you made and have sleepless nights wondering if you did the the right thing. That is normal until you gain confidence. It takes a solid year to really get some kind of comfort level. Trust in yourself and try to maintain some type of sense of humor - even it's twisted. HA Working OB can do that to you. You gotta love it..............:loveya:
Thank you so much! I'm really excited about this job. OB was my first choice out of everything else. The hospital I am working at is a learning hospital and they offer many different areas for graduate nurses so all I did was apply and interview. I hope you can start in OB too. Congrats on graduating in May!

I will be starting as a graduate nurse in OB in January. Can you give me any advice?
