Hi Everyone!
I recently passed my NCLEX-RN, and am now an RN in the state of MD. I have been tirelessly searching for employment as an RN in all the major hospitals and it seems I'm getting rejected left and right due to the fact I am new graduate. I feel so hopeless, I wish at least one hospital could give me the green light since I'm so eager to begin working in the profession I love so much. Are there any new MD graduates out there feeling my pain? If so please share, I hope I'm not alone on this one. I've been holding onto hope, and will continue my job search daily, but right now it's looking kinda dry out here for new grads

I feel your pain, I've only had one call back from a nursing home and I'm really not interested in signing an 18 month contract in LTC. I've talked to all the nurse recruiters and they don't have anything for new grads right now. Some of them even said they couldn't hire the nurse externs they had. It will turn around eventually.
Thank you for the reply. I've been getting the same from recruiters as well. I'm planning on visiting a skilled nursing facility on Monday and applying for a position with all my important papers in hand. I just want to get my foot in the door, and anywhere will do as long as I'm caring for patients'. Hopefully the situation picks up soon

I work for a skilled nursing facility on a transitional care unit. We take care of people who have just had surgery, IV antibiotics, just released from shock trauma, new trachs, etc.... I guess it's not for everyone but I really like it. I have the same patients for a week to a few months. I really enjoy the relationships that I get to form with my patients.
That's exactly the type of place I've been looking for! I really would not mind working in an out of hospital setting as long as I am able to use my nursing skills. I really want to find a skilled nursing facility that provides trach/vent/more complex care to patients. Any suggestions? Thank you for the reply

I live in texas and from what I know my classmates and I did not have trouble finding a job. Maybe you should try other cities near by, home health, nursing home, clinics, etc. Stay positve and hang in there. keep us posted

I am so Happy I found a job :) I can't wait to start! I am in the middle of packing up my old place and moving into a new home with my hubby. Between finding a job, preparing for the job, packing, and getting ready for an intense new grad RN residency program that the hospital I got hired in requires; I have a lot on my plate :w00t:
I got hired into the general med/surge unit. It's what I originally wanted in order to get a bit of everything
I love the telly unit's. I did my last semester clinical rotation in a telly unit and I learned so much, it was awesome! I wish you the best :)
I'm glad to hear you will be in a med surg floor. I have worked GI/GU for the past 3 1/2 yrs as a patient care tech I wanted something a little different. But you will learn so much and by the time you want to transfer somewhere else you will be well trained on a variety of things. You will get to see plenty of JP drains (Jackson Pratt), wound vac, colostomy, nephrostomies, NG tubes, etc just depending on what med surg department!! Keep me posted on your upcoming internship and I wish you the best of luck!!! Me and my bf just got our first apartment and now where doing furniture hunting, it can get a little intense. But were trying to have fun with it!!!
I can't wait to be on the cardiac unit. But I have two wks of orientation.
Hi luckylefty!!
How is your internship going? Hope all is well. :)
