New Graduate New Mom

Published

Hi!

I got my RN license over the Summer 2023. I was unable to begin an RN position immediately as I was in late pregnancy, and many programs/ jobs require full-time for a lengthy duration of time for orientation. I am currently part-time in a non-nursing related job and my child is now 4 months old. I absolutely adore them and don't want to miss out on anything.

I want to begin my career as an RN but I feel stuck. As a new grad, I've found that programs are unlikely to accommodate schedules. Even applying to SNFs, they want rotating schedules which is difficult for my partner and I. Though I don't mind being at home, I feel that the longer I wait the harder it will be to get hired later on. I wish a part-time new grad position was available!

This is just kind of a rant of time not working in my favor. But if anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
