New Grad- Transferring from LTC to hospital

Specializes in LTC.

Hello everyone,

I recently graduated this year and started my first nursing job in LTC. I would like to get some insight, I initially wanted to work in LTC and hospital as two part-time jobs to work more hours and gain more experience but because of the pandemic it's not possible as of now. I currently work part time in LTC but recently I got an offer for a full time position at a hospital. Anyone here experienced this situation before where they transferred from LTC to hospital? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I guess it would depend on where in the hospital you might want to work. I have done hospital nursing for 15 years in the past. I also did a  short stint in LTC.

I don't find dialysis easy,  per se, but I do like the predictability of most of my days. It is just this that drives some nurses to the  hospital as they get bored. Everyone is different.

I like the hours better and like having my Sundays and major holidays like Christmas and New Years, Thanksgiving off.  That I seemed never able to do in a hospital all the years I worked there.
