Good luck!
Congratulations! I heard that it is very hard to get a job in the NICU as a new grad nurse. Any tips or suggestions on how to land the job that you did?
Apply to Children's hospitals. They have formal training programs for new grads and experienced nurses without NICU experience. A job in a children's hospital, PCA experience in a NICU, or an externship in NICU while in school will help.
HI ALL!I am a New Grad starting a new job in the NICU on Monday. I am super excited since this is my dream job. Any words of advice for a New Grad?? Or links to old post that I could read through?
Be a sponge and soak up everything preceptor has to offer.
Don't be afraid to ask for a new preceptor if your personalities truly don't mesh
Learn as many "tricks of the trade" from experienced nurses to make your life easier.
Look into buying a couple reference books such as "Core Curriculum for Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing" by Jane Deacon and Patricia O'Neill or Merenstein & Gardner's "Handbook of Neonatal Intensive Care", 7th Edition
