New Grad, starting in ICU/CCU

Published

Hi. I am a new grad and have accepted a position in critical care. Our hospital is building and when the new area is finished our CCU & ICU's will be combined into one unit. All of the new hires are being oriented to both areas. My primary unit is going to be CCU, but my orientation is beginning in ICU. My strengths are in cardiac nursing, and frankly the thought of neuro scares me. Do you have any advice for a new grad in the ICU? I have several years of healthcare exp, but this is my first RN position. I did an internship on a cardiac step down unit and felt that is was a good fit for me. However, jobs are slim right now, and I feel very fortunate to have been offered this position. I just hope I make the grade.

Congratulations!! Icufaqs.org is a great website to check out for ICU orientation.
