New Grad in Southwest Florida

Published

Hi all!

I am a soon to be BSN new grad in SW Florida. I am really starting to think about jobs and every time I go down this deep dark path. I moved down to FL from CO for nursing school and my current situation is as followed:

The pros to my current situation here in Ft. Myers is that I have a home here with no monthly payment, work on a med/surg floor as a CNA, and am guaranteed a job after school per the director of the unit.

The cons are there is absolutely nothing close I enjoy in my spare time and I cant seem to find friends down here like I had back in CO. I miss the options of going downtown, simply having "family" gatherings, or to the mountains in Colorado and that's what I spent the majority of my times with friends doing.

With time counting down as to when I graduate the thought of moving back to CO is always lingering in the back of my head.

The pros would be I would close to my dad (my best friend), be with the amazing support system/ family of friends that I have there, and have the choice of doing the things I used to love doing in my spare time.

The cons are have zero connections into the medical field, moving back in with my dad, and switching my license from FL to CO right after school.

To some it sounds like a no brainer to stay where everything seems great on paper in Florida; having a house and a guaranteed job right out of school. But it has been a very hard journey down here and its been a mental battle of depression from feeling like I am without anyone who truly cares or knows me. I would really appreciate some advise!! Thank you
