New grad RN about to start first job in cardiology

Published

Hello,

I'm just seeking advice into how I can prepare for my new (first) RN job on the cardiology floor. I had a placement on this unit previously and had a great experience overall due to a strong presence of nurse's teamwork. But they're always short-staffed with high patient loads and I've been out of the hospital since my last placement in April (I graduated this summer). I'm weak with remembering cardiac meds, can be too detail-oriented that I fall behind, and want to appear more confident.

Your best bet is to review common diagnoses you remember on the floor and your cardiac meds. Maybe brush up your head to toe skills and ecg wave forms as well.

I don't think any one has gone into a new job 100% confident. Just ask questions when you are unsure and you should be ok. Best of luck
