New Grad Residency OC

Published

Hi everyone!

I, like many of us, are struggling to get accepted to any new grad residency programs in the south OC area. I've perused a few forms on here but I wanted to get more input on how everyone is doing so far? It's tough out here...

I applied to a few postings at LB memorial and have yet to hear back (the wait is killing me.. just tell me I didn't get it already). I've applied to 7-8 jobs at Hoag (both NP and Irvine) and got rejected from all of them. Kaiser/Providence don't have any programs opening up until next yr.

Has anyone had any luck at all? I'm getting discouraged and thinking about applying for PCT roles instead since I need a source of income.

Same boat. Our cohort's NCLEX was delayed due to a school error and we missed all of the new grad positions. Super frustrating. I've applied to like 30 jobs so far LOL

I'm on the same boat tbh. I graduated June and interviewed for a couple new grad programs but didn't get a call back. I actually just applied to a prime hospital since I need the money but we'll see how that goes. New grad programs are opening up soon anyway so we'll see how it goes

I've applied to 45 or so. Just got 4 rejections from Hoag this morning. 😅 I was also rejected from CHOC new grad program.
I live closer to DTLA but expanded my search to include OC.

I would encourage you to also extend your search radius if it's possible in order to expand the opportunities available. Huntington Hospital in Pasadena just opened their new grad applications, I think Cedars is open currently, and MLK is coming up.

Also, just FYI, Torrance Memorial has an ER tech position that is open to nurses waiting to apply to their new grad program. That's different than many other hospitals that only accept those with direct experience in ER or paramedics/EMTs. I read nurses' opinion about it being great experience that seems to create more prepared new grad nurses. I also heard it's a great place to work. I applied but I don't think I got it.
