If you had trouble getting a residency before, my advice is to apply to everything, and see what happens. My other advice would be to network, IE go to local lunches/meetings, IE local ANA chapter, society of med surg/surgical/critical care/emergency/whatever it is you want to do/ nurses, etc. It helps to stand out if you put in the effort to be at those events, and also starts conversations such as, "Oh, you're applying to residencies? My friend is reviewing applications in his department right now," etc. May be too late for that now, but good advice for the next time you're hunting.

I'm from Louisiana and moved to Texas in May after I graduated. I've been having a hard time finding a job in Houston. I really want to start out in the ER. I understand that the next round of residencies are for this coming winter? Does anyone have advice?
