I graduated in May, passed NCLEX in June and have been putting in the hours job hunting these past few months. Just got the call yesterday that I was accepted into the position at a mental health facility! So excited! I have always been interested in psych, loved my clinical rotations and even the lecture content in school!
I'll get 3 weeks classroom orientation/training, followed by 3 weeks floor training. Then onto whichever shift I'm being placed on (I was open to anything when I applied). Not sure whether I'll be in acute or long term units yet. But I'm sure I'll learn a ton either way!
Any advice or tips on how to be an awesome psych nurse is appreciated!
