New Grad need some advice! :)

Published

I have 3 possible job offers and I am having difficulty choosing between them.

1. Telemetry position in a hospital. Night shift.

(I'm not really a night person) :o...but then I could get my 1 year acute care year checked off !!

opening the door to travel nursing !!!:yeah:

2. Peritoneal dialysis in a Dialysis Clinic. M-F 9am to 5p. My would be preceptor seems to be great ! (30 years experienced) Awesome staff...If I take this position, will it "lock" me in the dialysis area? can I use this experience to later work for an agency and do acute care floor nursing?

3. GI Endoscopy position. M-F 8-5

I want to work in outpatient surgery clinic !! This is my top choice, If position offered to me !:loveya:

question is. as a New Grad ...which one of these positions opens up more doors for me ?

I eventually would like to get into the "OR", PACU, or travel nursing.....

can someone please offer some needed advice ??

thank you !!!

It seems like you'd want the telemetry position...at least it's closet to your ideals of OR/PACU nursing and will give you a slot in your travel nursing.

Specializes in Psych.

Take the tele position. the other areas are "pigeon hole" specialites. Expereince in those areas will not count any where else. With one year tele you can go anywhere you want to be.

How did you get a job so quick??? What state are you in???

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

I'd say the tele (because you want to do travel nursing) or the GI (because it's your first choice). Dialysis will definitely make it harder for you to into the OR and PACU; the other two are easier to transition from.
