Hi all, I'm looking for an L&D/Maternal-CHild Health/Preferrably women's health position in NYC for January (graduating with BSN in December). So far I put in online apps at Mt Sinai, NYP and St Vincent's. Any tips on getting through HR and actually getting hired? Anyone have any connections or recs for anyone to call, etc?
Much appreciated! Thanks so much!

Hi I think its best you find the HR Personnel and send them ur resume directly along with a cover letter. Alot of people fill out job applications online but you need to make sure yours is mailed directed to the right person not just the department. Also go to the hospital and talk to the security guard or anyone in housekeeping. preferably one of your opposite sex.

Seriously, do whatever the people in HR tell you to. many place do not accepted hard copies of resumes or walk-in applications anymore. I know for a fact that NYPresbyterian does not. You must fill it out online... this is the only way you will be considered. When I worked there, I was being processed in HR and I watched countless people come in to fill out applications and were told to go home and go on the website.
You will save a lot of time and money in traveling if you go on the hospitals websites and find out hpw they accept applications and resumes.

hi, just FYI many 'big name' hospitals in nyc will not hire nurses that have yet to take the NCLEX exam and pass. just double check the hospitals you are looking into. some may hire before you are licensed, some will not, some will allow you to work under a provisional license. hope this helps

Why would you do that?
I found that talking to people who work in the hospital doing non medical work are more helpful. The opposite thing stuff works for me. Cause If U are cute the are going to want you to work there. Everyone know that being attractive is a plus I don't care where you work. So lets not get retarded here.
