I think a new grad in a hospice house is doable. They will have other team members present to bounce ideas off of, will have a charge RN for guidance, and their ratio is probably lower than med-surg nursing. If the new grad RN was a CNA, that would be an added bonus. Please make sure you give adequate orientation though :)
A new grad out in the "field" is a whole other beast I would not even consider!
sumalatha kalva: hello, i'm starting a hospice job too. do you know if they test during orientation like a hospital does for new grads (dosage calculation test, scenario test ...like what would you do if you were in this situation?) i'm trying to be 100% prepared. I'm scared and excited too :-) best of luck to you!!!!

Hi
Would your hospice hire a new grad RN?
We are a small nonprofit hospice with a hospice house facility. I'm considering hiring a new grad RN for the hospice house...thoughts??
