Hi! So I'm intending to graduate from an accredited nursing school in western PA in May. I am looking for a new grad nursing position in Northern California and I'm having a lot of trouble finding hospitals that take new grads. Any suggestions?
thanks!

Your best bet is the San Joaquin Valley - Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Tracy, etc. and Chico, Redding, Oroville. Placerville is booming. These are also affordable areas. The Oroville Hospital is quite large and they are building an even bigger new hospital.
There was a Dir of Nursing that posted she could not find any RNs for a coastal Oregon hospital and she was definitely willing to take new grad RNs.

Good luck finding something in California! There are a ton of schools here pumping out new grads, and everyone in the country wants to move here for the pay and patient ratios. Not to say that it couldn't happen, but new grad spots are very few and far between here in the Sacramento area, and most go to grads that have formed a relationship with the hospital during clinicals. You are probably better off working in PA as a newgrad and then looking once you get some experience.
