New Grad Advice: Hopkins vs. Sinai

U.S.A. Maryland

I'm a new grad with CNA experience and I passed boards few weeks ago. So I'm on the job hunt trail. Long story short; after interviewing at hopkins couple days ago, I was offered a CNA/RN position. Due to hopkins hiring freeze, not too many New grad spots now. So I was offered the CNA/RN position to work as a CNA for 90 days on a unit and it is a guarantee that I will transition to a RN by January. I am so excited about this opportunity and I am more than willing to work as a CNA and gain that experience and move up the ladder.

I have a interview at Sinai for a new grad. RN position. I hear that Sinai is also a great hospital. I was wondering if I should go ahead with the interview and see what happens. Even though it is directly for a RN spot, I think Hopkins has more to offer and I am leaning more towards them. I do not want to wait too long for me to respond to Hopkins with my decision. Advice nebody??? Thanks

On my floor at JHH there are a lot of new grads who work as a CNA for a few months and then transition to RN. I have been told that the nurse manager has pretty much made this her hiring policy for new RNs. I am currently a CNE(clinical nurse extern)/CNA and I will be transitioning sometime after graduation and I definitely think it is worth the wait. In the meantime as a CNA you will become familiar with your floor, with hospital policies, and will be comfortable working with patients. It will make your transition to RN a little easier IMO.

Hi :) I am a recent grad also, who applied at JHH for an RN position. I received an email today asking if I would be interested in the UAP/RN position also. She asked for four dates that I had available so that they could select one to interview me. I'm excited about the opportunity also and I just wandered what the interview was like? Also, did you take the JHH job or Sinai? If you took JHH, do you like it? Thanks!
