The European Guidelines have also been updated. The full version can be downloaded here:

The European Guidelines recommend the 30:2 ratio for all providers (lay and professional). The rationale for all the changes is explained.

I saw it on the news 2 nights ago...American Heart is coming out with the new guidelines for 30 compressions...but the story did stress that providers should stick with what they have been taught. I assume that means that the new standard will be incorporated into the next CPR manual and that the next time we all renew we will incorporate the new protocol. I think the recommendation is hot off the presses - I just happened to be tuning in to the news that night. None of the EMTs or ER physicians that I have talked to since saw the story and have not heard about it.
My feeling is that someone released this new info way too early. Now everyone, especially lay providers, will be confused.

There are also major changes to ACLS so it is not just for the lay rescuer.
