New CNA with comments and questions :)

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hey everybody, I'm new to the site and to being a CNA. I was certified as of June 2nd. I work at a local LTCF and love love my job. I totally admire all the work you do all you CNAs....you too LVNs and RNs :D. So I'm currently taking an class for acute care and I decided that I'm going to major in Radiologic Technology. Is anyone taking another career path other than nursing? Anyone else an x-ray tech or know anyone? Also which do you prefer LTC or working in a hospital setting? Thanks :D

I became a CNA with the hopes of becoming a nurse. I changed my mind and am now studying political science although I'm still working as an aide. I like it, but I don't think it's my life's calling.

I started out in LTC. Hated it. Been working med surg and ICU for over 5 years and really enjoy it. For me, I would never ever go back to LTC. I am amazed at the people who stay there and love it. I applaud them. For me, I'm just not an elderly type. I like them, I like listening to their stories, but I get too frustrated too quickly with Alzheimer's pt's. I like ICU because you never know what's going to come through the door.

My cousin is an x ray tech and she loves it. She told me that if she went back to school to be able to do US she could make more money than a RN.
