I have a bachelor's degree in biology and graduated in May and sadly, I only graduated with a 3.24 GPA : /. I guess I really messed up my first two years in college and didn't really focus in school. I several organizations, did volunteer work, and was very involved in school. I have a part time job as a medical transcriptionist in Texas and have been working for the same company for about two years. I want to make a big leap and move to Central Florida because I absolutely fell in love with the area and have made great friends there. I applied to the accelerated nursing program at UCF with a 3.36 GPA and an 84 in the TEAS, but as I expected, I didn't get in.
I have been looking for a job related to my degree in the area and no luck. I've always thought about being a nurse, but I've never made the transition to that career path while it was still early in my undergrad years. I do regret it, but only because I wanted to get a bachelor's degree right away. Now, I feel like I have a useless degree in biology.
Does anybody have any advice for me as to how I could have a better chance in getting in to any nursing programs anywhere in Central Florida? I have been doing some research and debating weather I should apply to get an associates degree in nursing, general bachelor's degree in nursing, or an accelerated nursing degree.
Another thing...if I go back to school right away, I'm going to end up paying out of state tuition. I can't decide if I should wait or just get it over with and apply to several programs in Central Florida right away.
I don't really know a lot of programs in Central Florida other than at UCF and USF. I read about some colleges with nursing programs, but not a bachelors.
I guess I'm a little lost. Help?! haha

Can you go to school locally and then apply to work in the area? The problem with state schools are that they have lots of applicants. You may have better luck with a private school and cost difference may not be too much since you are out of state.
