Never underestimate the power of a thank you note

Published

I was recently offered a job as an acute rehab RN and I believe a part of me landing this job was my thank you note. I'd done a digital interview and the email stated they would strive to let me know of a decision, either way, within 7 days. I forgot to send an e-mail to thank the recruiter following the interview.

Well on the morning of day 8 I still hadn't heard back so I figured now was as good a time as any to say thanks for giving me a chance to interview. I wrote a short e-mail to say thanks for the opportunity to interview and I made sure to state why I felt tha, even as a new grad, I was a great fit for the position. I got a call within a few hours of the e-mail from the HR Director expressing their interest in doing a second interview.

I got an immediate job offer on the second interview and the pay with shift differentials will put me close to $40/hr! I'm so excited, but I wanted to share my experience because it's a fight getting to the top of the pile, so every little tidbit helps.
