Hello! I’m a new grad FNP and I’m seeking clarification regarding DEA license. Most job postings I see require DEA to apply. I noticed that I have to apply with the Nevada Board of Pharmacy prior to the DEA license for controlled substance privileges. The Nevada application asks for information on place of practice. Considering I do not have a job lined up, it does not look like I can apply for this? If you work in NV how did you go about DEA license if you were a new grad? I’m assuming I’ll just need to apply for jobs first? Unfortunately my husband is military and we moved to Vegas after I completed clinicals. So I don’t really have connections for a job. Was it difficult to get a job as a new grad?
Thanks in advance!

I’m in the same boat, as a new grad no you can not apply, you have to have a job lined up that will sign off on it, kind of a pain.
Thank you @Tialavelle81. It’s interesting how many jobs say must have DEA in the listing/new grads may apply. I started applying to jobs even if I didn’t meet all the requirements. I’ve had 8 interviews in the past week and a half. I’ve been offered 7/8. So definitely apply to anything appealing. A lot of places are desperate for providers right now. I was nervous going into a lot of them knowing I didn’t have DEA, but they were all well aware I wouldn’t.

Congratulations! I’ve been applying (Michigan) one interview, awaiting to hear back. But I’m glad to hear there is some hope!
