Hi everyone,
I will be taking the NET for NETI (Shelton) on June 10th. I took their practice test last week and aced the English/Reading with a perfect score. The math kicked my butt, out of 20 questions I got 11 wrong!!!!!!!!!!! Argh! I am so mad at myself because most of the mistakes I made were stupid and due to being nervous (haven't been in school in 17 yrs). I HAVE to pass this test and get into school ASAP. I was laid off from my job recently and am a single mom. God has blessed me with a good man who is willing to support me through school but we can only afford to do this once. This is my one shot and I MUST get in.
Has anyone taken the exam? If so, do you have any reccomendations on the math section of the exam. What types of questions are asked? I just bought the study guide and got some books from the library to refresh my memory.
Also, is the scoring cumulative or do they score each section of the test independently?
Thanks for any advice!!

Hi,
I took it last month(hamden)...I passed BUT it is different fron the NET test...it was long & you need to move quickly...the practice test is nothing like the REAL one & I really thought I failed!! The math does count a lot...but I found that the easiest...fractions decimals a little alg. & geom. but the english & reading conp. in the first section count's a really lot too. Thats my tough part that I never do well in & I really took too much time with it & getting to the end of the test my time was really running out...I should have looked ahead to see what I was in for.I studied out of the NET study guide & lpn/lvn study guide that they recomend.Good luck I hope you do well..let me know..I was a nervous wreck but it all worked out thank God.Oh, I forgot there are a lot of graphs & they are really easy but you have to actually work out all the answers they give to find the correct one & they are tough because if you mess-up one # forget it because all they answers are off by like one digit: EXAMPLE 1) 925 2)926
stuff like that the actual graphs are easy..there is one on gasoline it recall butyou have to count all the little line carefully...& again all answers are w/in a digit of each other. It has been 16 years since I was in school so I was really rusty...hopefully you will be fine. GOOD LUCK

Hi, i iam starting the LPN class in new britian on june 12. And i had to take the test twice because i did not so good on the math the first time, but what i did was just study from a GED book that i got from the library, and i just took my time and think about what kind of problems that the math was about. Study alot of fractions, distance from on town to another kind of questions and postive and negative multiplication and divisions there is two math sections that they average them together.
well good luck!
