hey net pals,

I'm feeling so blue. :::looking for some shoulders:::

I'm taking anatomy 2 now(summer session 7 weeks). so far my average is C...I have 3 more weeks to go. Next week is my first practical. I'm constantly studying...i have a 2 year old. I feel so guilty knowing that i'm not spending time reading to her or playing hide and seek with her.

any studying tips? all i do is try to memorize everything...but the next day when i get the test in my hand...it's all foreign to me. please give me some tips on how to study and how many hours a day is ideal? I sent an email to the prof. bringing up my concerns...my husband said not to email him...but i did. was that the right move? i basically told him that i put so much effort in studying but my grades are not good enough and asked him to guide me in the right path. was i wrong to email him? does it show some type of desperation? anyway guys...give me some positive thoughts. :(

I do not think you were wrong to e-mail your prof... I mean, who better to ask on "How do I succeed in this class?" He may give you some good pointers, he may not, but at least you asked. It shows that you are proactive and serious about the course. So don't fret over that.

I don't have kids, but I can understand your guilt. However showing her that mom is working hard towards a goal is important, too! I know some moms here have said that they tried to include their kids in their studying, either by "teaching" them or having the kids do flashcards with them. I'm not sure if your daugher is old enough to do that stuff, but maybe that's a possibility. Or you can "play" side by side.... she sits and "reads" a book while you study. That way you're still on her level, but can get stuff done.

I found A&P II to be somewhat different from I. For A&P I I had a stack of flashcards in my purse for muscles (origin, insertion, action, nerve). For II I spent more time with my lab book which had unlabeled diagrams of the systems and tried to point everything out without looking at the labeled diagram in the book. I also found that talking to myself, explaining how things worked, helped.

Best of luck!

I would definitely recommend getting anatomy and physiology for dummies from the book store because that is what really saved me in APII. Its so hard to memorize the parts of all the systems without completely understanding what is happening within them. The book will explain in easy and sometimes funny words what is going on in a real life kind of way. It compares to a real life happening that you will understand and adds in details after you "get it". Then when you go back to the text things just fall into place and you won't forget details because you will know why you need to know them. I swear I would read each system section numerous times during a unit and go back and forth from it to my text.

I hope this helps you and good luck.

for me it was to have multiple books. Like the above poster said the dummies book; which was one of 4 that I had. They all gave a different perspective and when combined it clicked. You can memorize a great deal but if you can see how it works and where it fits then it makes that memorization so much more effecient. You are taking a summer course, which are usually so compact that your bound to fall a bit behind but relax as much as possible and come back to your studies.

Thanks guys...feeling so much better...started studying for my practical...i will def. get the book for dummies. oh and my prof. replied back saying he wants to meet me on monday.
