Hello!
I'm taking my pre-req's for the nursing program in my area. So far, so good! I'm maintaining a 3.4 GPA and hoping to raise it some more this semester. While my GPA at this school is solid, I took a few classes at another college and didn't do as well. I know that the nursing program I'm aiming for require a cumulative GPA of 2.75. I'm just nervous that all the hard work that I've put in at this school isn't going to matter since my GPA at the other school is so low.
Do nursing schools also look at a student's progression, i.e. they look at if they student has improved academically over their college career and at pre-req GPA?
I know that a lot of other factors go into being accepted or not, but I'm really scaring myself with the state of my cumulative GPA. Any advice?

It really depends on the school. I applied to one nursing program that looks at an all-college GPA which means every class I've ever taken. Another program I will apply to ONLY looks at the pre-req GPA. Of course, they both also look at the entrance exams (HESI, TEAS....) and one requires an interview. If you look at the nursing program web sites of the schools you are interested in, they should give you this information. Otherwise, make a few phone calls. It's always good to know what you are in for from the start so you will not be disappointed down the road.
