I recently went from hospice to LTC to work night shift in order to go back to school. I almost laughed out loud at the hourly rate quoted to me from the administrator. We negotiated for a couple of minutes and I ended up with the pay I wanted ($3.50/hr more than offered). Good luck and remember that in most places they need you more than you need them!

Just curious, what you actually said to negotiate 3.50/hr ? You must be one hell of a negotiator hehe.

I posted this same message somewhere else but may get more replies here. Has anyone been negotiating hourly rate?? I am currently trying to move my work a little closer to home and am hoping to keep my current rate of pay. Just curious how common it is to negotiate with employer on rate of pay.....
