Needs help and advice pls!!! (from IEN's/ UK nurses working in canada)

hello everyone! i've been browsing this website for a few days now, i found it so informative so i decided to join in the fun! let me tell you my situation first before anything else...i have a bsn degree (1998) and i've been practising in the profession since. i am currently in the uk (been here for the last 9 years) and now, i have decided i want to move my family to canada (ontario in particular as i have loads of relatives there). i've read quite a few threads and more or less, i have grasp the idea on what to do to start the ball rolling..however, i just want to make sure i am really going to do the right things so i hope you guys could help me out.here's what i'm planning to do:
-write to cno to assess my credentials (if i can write the crne)
-start revising and take the crne (if allowed) and hopefully pass it
-look for possible employers
-apply for visa and take it from there...
now here are my questions:
question 1: which is better? apply as a skilled worker and take the crne soon or have a relative sponsor me and my family and take the crne when we're all there? can apply either but may be quicker to come over on twp once you get eigibility and work before you sit crne. look for rgn1 posts as she came over first on twp and sat crne later
question 2: what's the situation of nursing in ontario at the moment? is it really hard to find a job for ien's?
question 3: is it mandatory for ien to take the bridging course even if they have a bsn? what about the ielts? a lot will depend on the college and your transcripts
question 4: am i on the right track with my plans at the moment??? if not, can you tell me what to do (as specific as you can be...)any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
i just feel that i might as well do this now before it's too late. life is too short

have you been out for a visit? we moved to ns just over 12 months ago and love it. i am still sorting my nursing stuff out and have a couple of issues but there are plenty of jobs here in ns. not sure what the job situation is like for ontario

thanks, SD! for a while there i thought nobody will notice my thread. we're going to ontario next year to visit some relatives and have a "look" around as well..were you originally from UK as well? if so, can you tell me what you did (from application to having ur visa granted???) sorry to be a pain! what do you think about my plans??? am i going the right track??? i'm just waiting for the CNO to send my application package. i know it's a long process that's why i'm eager to start the ball rolling now. cheers!

Yes I am from the UK and trained as a ENG way back in 86 and then converted to RN in 97. We was lucky as dh got a job within the company who asked him if he would be interested in moving to Canada, this was after putting life on hold for the US and getting caught up with retrogression, so he was the main applicant for visa. I am having issues with my transcripts and have to do some courses before I can sit CRNE so in the process of trying to sort that out.

Basically you need to complete CNO application form and once they give you eligibility I would suggest you look for a employer. You can come over and work before you sit CRNE but that is up to you. There are a couple of routes you can do it TWP (temp work permit) and then change for PR if you decide to stay or PNP. All information can be found on the CIC website. Working in the healthcare profession you will need a medical before you can work in Canada. If going the TWP route looking at approx 6-12 months and PNP I think takes approx 12 months. Does vary
