Needless IV Systems

I have just recently been acquainted with the new needless IV devices, and I can't decide if I am going to like it or not. I know what you are thinking (that law went into effect months ago), but my facility has just recently switched our systems out. I was wondering if you all have any tips, suggestions, advice, or comments on this. I think I will get used to this in the long run, but I am not sure. What do you all think?

Personally, I love using no-stick systems. They do take a while to get used to if you have never used them in the past. One facility I have worked at used them, and the other two did not. I really prefered the no-sticks because there was less danger to everyone involved. No matter how careful we are, needle sticks can still happen. I have stuck myself before, on a needle that another person had left in the bed linens while I was changing sheets. It was very upsetting. Even though it was a small bore needle, and used to inject into a distal port, it compromised my safety. After that, I love the needle-free systems.

Personally I love the needless system not only does it minimize the stresses being stuck it is just down right safer. I know for some nurses who still like the needles it may be hard to get use to. Even in our units we use both and I still see nurses using needles.

All these nasty bugs you can contract I just feel safer using the needless system.
