Welcome to Pittsburgh, it is a great city! When we were looking for a house, we stayed at the Red Roof Inn on Rt 60 in the Carnegie area (west side of town, easy access to the highways). Not a fancy place, but they do accept dogs and you can upgrade for a kitchenette. The good folks at Pittsburgh Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum are full of good information about neighborhoods etc; you might want to check there for more advice.

Hey everyone, my wife and I are moving to Pittsburgh in the next week. I need help finding a place to stay. We planned on staying at an "extended stay" hotel for a month or so to search for an apartment, but are having difficulty finding a place that will accept dogs. Any advise/ideas? We don't want to pay a crazy amount to stay for a month. We don't know the Pittsburgh area well enough either to just move straight into an apartment and want to look around for a few weeks at least. Any advise or ideas would be greatly appreciated. We're really excited to move, just this part stinks!
Thanks in advance,
MIKE
