Need response from a RN

Published

Hello- I am a nursing student and need to interview some nurses. I need to ask a RN a few questions. Please reply or send me a message, thanks!

Will be glad to answer any questions for you.

Here are the questions I have:

1. What type of education did you receive?

2. Describe the different roles in which you have worked?

3. How is professionalism incorporated into your role as a nurse?

4. What advice would you offer a person beginning in the nursing profession?

5. What advice would you offer nursing students as they work toward their degree?

Thank you so much!

1. I first got an ADN. 18 yrs later, after my children were no longer small (I had 6, so that took awhile), I got my BSN.

2. I started out in med-surg in the hospital. I worked nursery only briefly to fill in. Then I did home health and hospice for 6 yrs. Was in pediatrics for 2 yrs, cardiac step-down for 1 yr. Some of this I did at the same time due to working two jobs. I was in the army reserves for 5 yrs learning field and combat nursing. Have been in the nursing home for 12 yrs now.

3. Basically, how I interact with my staff, residents and families, and other professionals (doctors, hospital staff, etc)....how I present myself as a role model, an example, an advocate and friend.

4. Watch your instructors and the nurses in your clinicals. See which ones seem to make people (patients, families, co-workers) comfortable, secure...like it is safe to ask them anything. Try to figure how they do it, and model that. Being able to comfort patients and their families is an amazing talent. It is as good as a medicine.

5. Work as little as possible, don't give up, and never forget why you are doing this....b/c it is tough.

Hope that helps.

Thank you VERY much for your help!
